Remember this week is Red Ribbon Week!  Tuesday is a White Oak shirt or College Shirt, Wednesday is wear a hat, Thursday is wear a tie dye shirt, and on Friday students can wear costumes.

Reading students will have a homework passage about the Harvest Moon.  I have asked them to turn it in on Thursday instead of Friday.  Also,  there will be no vocabulary words or test this week.

Have a great week!

This is just a reminder to make sure your child has Reading homework (WB page 34) turned in by tomorrow.  There are no vocabulary words this week so NO test.  Please make sure they are reading each night and a parent is signing the Reading log.  The new log is due Nov. 24.

Next week is a busy week so we will not have Vocabulary words to study.  Because of Red Ribbon Week, we will have a different activity each day.  Monday is wear read, Tuesday is wear a college shirt or a White Oak shirt, Wednesday is wear hats, Thursday is wear a tie dye shirt and bring a stuffed animal, and Friday is wear a school appropriate costume!

Thank you parents for all your emails, phone calls, texts, notes and support.  I could not do this everyday without you!

Study these vocabulary words for the test on Thursday.  I suggest making flashcards with the words on one side and the definition on the other, or use index cards with the word on one card and the definition on the other for students to match up, and have students make a sentence with each word.

1. focus – concentrate on one thing

2. target – goal

3. entertaining – enjoyable

4. angles – camera point of view

5. jolts – sudden strong movement

6. thrilling – exciting

7. advertise – give information to sell something

8. promote – improve, grow

9. generate – produce

10. critics – judges of art, movies, and music

Good Morning,

This will be a busy, fun week!  My Reading students will have Vocabulary words to study for a test on Thursday.  We normally test on Friday, but due to early release at 1:00, I have moved the test to Thursday.

If your child is participating in the fundraiser, they need to turn in packets tomorrow!!!

Just in case you haven’t heard…Homecoming is Friday! Students will be released early to enjoy the festivities!

Have a great week and feel free to email or call if you ever have concerns or questions.

Good Morning,

This is a notification to inform you that my Reading students will have a short passage with questions for homework  due on Wednesday.  I encourage you to work with them to prove/discuss their answers.  This is good preparation for the STAAR test.   Also, there are no vocabulary words this week.

Remember to have your child read each night and record this on their Reading Logs.  Reading Logs are due next Friday.  If they are complete, students will receive a 100 in the gradebook.

Early Release on Wednesday!

Have a great day!

Sept. 23, 2015

Many of you have been on Skyward and noticed your child has “missing assignments.”  Don’t panic!  Most of the time, those assignments aren’t actually missing.  I enter the assignment in Skyward ahead of time before I enter the grades.  If your child has missing work for me, I will work with them during the day to get that completed.

One more day until Fall begins!! I am ready for some cooler weather!

This is just a reminder that we are testing this week, so my Reading students will not have any Vocabulary words this week.

Also, Reading logs went home on Monday.  They should be returned completed on Oct. 16th.  There are only 18 days to record students reading on the log, so there are a few nights they can skip Reading.    Remember 20 minutes each night is the minimum requirement.  Hopefully, students are reading more than the 20 minutes!

We are off to a great start!  The fourth graders are working hard and learning everyday.

I would like to invite you to attend Parent Orientation on September 14 from 6:00-7:00 in the library.

The 4th grade teachers will be sharing some important information so you don’t want to miss out!

Remember after the 14th, you may come eat with your child at lunch!  I know some of you are anxious to come enjoy lunch with them.

Thanks for sharing your child with me!
