Beginning tomorrow, we are collecting cans for the Can Drive at our school. The grade with the most cans will earn extra recess!!!!

Things to remember:

Wednesday is early release at 11:30 and wear a “team” shirt or jersey.

Thursday is “Hat day”.

Friday is “dress as a storybook character” and Library Day. No Spelling test this week.

This Friday will be a Spelling test, so make sure your child is ready!

Next week’s activities for Red Ribbon Week are:
Monday – Wear Red
Tuesday – Wear Red, White, and Blue
Wednesday – Wear a Team Jersey
Thursday – Wear a Hat
Friday – Dress as a storybook character

A blue note was sent home for permission to watch Winn Dixie and have snacks on Wednesday/Thursday. If your child loses the note, you can write in their planners or email me that you give permission.

New Spelling words for the next 2 weeks:

lawn, loss,chalk, stalk, halt, shawl, crawl, fawn, toss, chair, hair, stairs, clear, spear, fear, deer, steer, cheer, beautiful, became.
Remember students will not have Spelling homework assigned to them but they are more than welcome to study their words at home.
Spelling test will be next Friday, October the 9th.

Thank you for helping your child complete their Reading Logs for the month of September! Even if they weren’t complete, I always tell students to turn in something rather than nothing.
When students receive their Spelling words this week, they will not be getting any homework. We will begin completing those homework activities in class. That doesn’t mean they can’t practice their words at home, but they are not responsible for turning in any Spelling homework.
Also this week, we will be watching the movie Because of Winn Dixie since we have finished the book. There is a letter coming home that requires a parent signature for students to be able to watch the movie and participate in the party. Please return this note by Wednesday!

Today students are receiving new Spelling words and homework assignments. Homework is due Friday. The Spelling test will be next Friday, Sept. 25th.

Spelling words are: dance, glance, taste, paste, judge, budge, hatch, patch, match, lunch, bunch, punch, hitch, stitch, witch, again, against, almost, along, already

We had less than 10 students turn in Spelling homework this week. The next opportunity to do homework will be the week of Sept. 14th. Let’s work on getting that work turned in.

Next week is a short week due to Monday being a holiday!
There will be no Spelling homework but students will need to study the same Spelling words as last week:
beach, peach, reach, faint, saint, paint, pound, round, sound, loose, goose, moose, sneeze, breeze, freeze, able, about, above, across, after.
They will have a test over these words on Friday,Sept. 8th.

Also, today they are going to the library so they should have 2 library books coming home today. We ask them to try to keep their books in a baggie to keep them from getting damaged.

We are off to a great start and kids are doing a fantastic job wearing their mask and social distancing! Keep up the good work guys!
We are about halfway through our first chapter book, Because of Winn Dixie, and we are loving it!
